Tornadoes Double Scoop

During the weekend of 9th/10th May 2009, the finale of the BKA season took place, placing the top 2 teams from each respective region and the bottom 2 teams of the Premier League against each other. The teams were split into two pools, Tornadoes were in the same pool as Norwich Knights, Cardiff Dragons and Manchester Warriors.

On Saturday, Tornadoes opening game was against Manchester Warriors, which was cat and mouse for the first 20 minutes but then Tornadoes pulled away and finished 7-3 winners.

The next game was against favourites Norwich Knights. The first period was very tough and Norwich went into the break 6-0 up. The second period was alot closer but Norwich came out 10-1 winners. The 3rd game of the day was against South West champions, Cardiff Dragons. Tornadoes came out 10-2 winners and secured a place in the cross over semi-final.

During the evening it was the annual Korf-Ball in which the annual korfball awards are presentedin which Tornadoes were presented with 2 awards:-

The second day saw Tornadoes against Nomadswho had already beaten Tornadoes twicw during the regular season. This saw the closest of the 3 games these 2 teams had played with Nomads coming out on top 8-6.

The final game was a 3rd/4th place playoff against demoted Croydon. Tornadoes took an early 4-0 lead, with Croydon pulling back 3 goals unanswered. The tenacity of the Tornadoes team saw them pull out into a strong lead and secured a 3rd place finish by winning 10-4
