U13s National Champions 08-09
The eagerly awaited National U13 Championships took place in Morden, Surrey with 5 teams participating in a round robin tournament, with each team playing 4 matches and each match lasting 40 minutes
The opening fixture of the day saw Tornadoes take on local rivals Kingfisher. It was Tornadoes that broke the deadlock with 2 quick goals and there was no looking back from the early lead and they came out 11-4 winners. Their 2nd match was a closer affair against a strong Scorpions side with Tornadoes again coming out on top by 7-4 margin.
The next game was against newly formed and enthusiastic Bromley, but their inexperience showed and were beaten 18-1. The final game for Tornadoes was against clubmate Cyclones, the young side was not phased by the competition or the more experienced Tornadoes players. The fianl scoreline of 9-1 to Tornadoes does not reflect the effort and play that Cyclones displayed.
The following games for Cyclones saw defeatsnagainst Kingfisher and Scorpions and a win against Bromley.
This was a tremendous effort by the Tornadoes club who secured their second national title in as many months with the U13s joning the Tornadoes U16's as National Champions.
